蜡烛的火焰,由内至外可分为三层:1.第一层 焰心(淡蓝色,温度最低,也最暗)在靠近烛芯的部分,是烛焰的最内层。由未燃烧的「蜡蒸气」所组成。蜡烛的化学组成是石蜡,基本上是固态的碳氢化合物,碳氢化合物中的碳原子、氢原子形成自由基跑出来。因为这些蒸汽尚未被燃烧,也无热量放出,因此温度最低,光度最暗。 2.第二层 内焰(金黄色,最亮)在焰心的外围,焰心的「蜡蒸气」扩散到内焰,在这里开始燃烧。燃烧需要碳粒和氧气,但是因为内焰无法直接接触氧气(被外焰挡住了)所以燃烧不完全,虽然温度比内焰高,但不是温度最高的。因燃烧不完全,有部分碳粒未燃烧留在此层,高温的碳粒能发出黄色的光,所以内焰是烛焰最亮的部分。 3.第三层 外焰(淡黄色,温度最高)在烛焰的最外围,由於氧气充足而完全燃烧,因燃烧放热,所以温度最高,但所含的高温碳粒较少(因为离蜡烛远,而且扩散到此的碳粒都被燃烧掉了),所以光度比内焰暗。
