My translation: (我们/你)应该像水一样, 能屈能伸.

Although the translantion "君子之交，淡如水 is very interesting, it is NOT the original meaning. The real meaning is (我们/你)应该像水一样, 能屈能伸.

This is a very famous line Bruce Lee (功夫之王”李小龙) used in a TV interview to explain his philosophy on kungfu and life:

"Empty your mind. Be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. Now, water can flow, or it can crash. Be water my friend."
