neither一定要与nor连用吗？不能单独使用吗？比如我想表达。我宁愿回家也不住宿舍

可以单独使用：

单独使用的话上面应该是有context的，其实就是上面那句话和这句话共同构成了neither nor的关系，只不过没有用neither。。。nor的句型。我是这样理解的

1. 是的，neither... nor...既不...也不...

2. 举例：——Do you have a  dog？ 

              ——No，I don't

             ——Neither/Nor  do  I  我也是（没有养狗）

    Neither do I 表示现实情况的否定。前面一句为否定句。表示我也没有，我也不那样

3. would rather do  than do 宁愿做...也不愿做...，和neither nor没有关系

4. I would rather go home than live in the dormitory

neither必须和nor连用 这是固定搭配

neither要和nor连用的 另外你这句话应该用would rather表达宁可【或相关表示宁可的词组

neither…nor的意思是既不…也不…，想表达我宁愿回家也不回宿舍，用prefer to do rather than do。I prefer to go home rather than stay dorm.
