replace和renew的区别

We replaced the stolen car when the insurance money arrived.
1. replace 在此表示“更换，替换”，用一个事物代替另一个事物。而renew着重指“更新”，也就是说在原来的基础重新装饰，使变成新的一样。
2. 翻译：保险金来了以后我们替换了被盗走的车。（也就是说买了一辆新车替代被盗走的旧车，所以用replace。）

replace means to place again
renew means to make new again.

One can only replace the stolen car but one cannot renew a stolen car since a stolen car is never new again.
