1.allocate : to give sth officially to sb/sth for a particular purpose
eg: A large sum has been allocated for buying new books for the library.已划拨了一大笔款子给图书馆购买新书.
2. assign: to give sb sth that they can use, or some work or responsibility 分派某物/工作/任务
3. assign: to provide a person for a particular task or position 指派,委派
The teacher assigned a different task to each of the children. 老师给每个儿童布置的作业都不相同.
